SCAN TO CADRebuilt parts overlap the true CAD by 97–100%

From a mesh back to editable CAD.

A 3D scan or an STL file (a triangle-based 3D mesh) does not give you editable hole sizes or wall thicknesses. Upload one and an AI rebuilds it as a short computer-aided design (CAD) program you can edit, then exports a STEP file (an exchangeable engineering model) in your own millimetres. Then describe how it is held and loaded, how fast a motor on it spins, how many times it is loaded — and the same verified simulation tools check the rebuilt part. These checks support engineering review, not safety certification.

How it works

01
Look at the mesh

Your STL is cleaned and rendered from eight directions, the way the AI was trained to see parts.

02
Write CAD, not triangles

CADReasoner, an open vision-language CAD model (CVPR 2026), writes short CadQuery programs: sketches, holes, extrusions.

03
Run it safely, check it

Every program runs in a locked sandbox with no network; OpenCASCADE, the geometry-checking engine, checks the solid.

04
Compare and improve

The closest match is overlaid on your mesh and shown back to the AI to refine, then scaled to your millimetres.

Checked against the true CAD

We meshed parts whose exact CAD we know, asked the AI to rebuild them from the mesh alone, then measured how much of the rebuilt solid overlaps the original — exactly, with the geometry kernel.

Best on machined-style parts built from sketches and extrusions. Organic or freeform scans (castings, sculpted surfaces) are only approximated. The AI's code never runs outside its sandbox: it has no network and cannot write anywhere else — both are tested on every release.

Every result gets an honest grade — GOOD, ROUGH or POOR — from checking each dimension of the rebuilt CAD against your mesh, the surface gap, the shape in every direction and (for closed meshes) the volume. Assemblies work too: a file with several pieces is split, identical copies are rebuilt once and placed again, and you get one STEP plus one program for the whole assembly (up to 60 pieces, 10 different). Very long or flat parts are temporarily squashed so the AI can see their cross-section, then stretched back. Freeform shapes (smooth, sculpted surfaces) cannot be written as editable CAD and are graded POOR — but if the mesh is one closed piece, the strength check still runs directly on it. Every answer can be downloaded as a one-page PDF report, you can check one piece of an assembly at a time, and if you are logged in to the KYAMOS portal your parts are kept for 30 days under “My saved parts”.
